HAUTE STREET #HEARTS Andrea Iyamah! Find out why.... HERE! #CHECKIT
HAUTE STREET: What are some of the key elements & inspirations of the Andrea Iyama Spring/Summer 2014 collection?
ANDREA IYAMA: I knew I wanted colors that popped for the #Swim2014 color palette. Inspired again by ethnicity and tribal culture, I wanted to create edgy pieces that were different from last year but still passed the same vibe of unique-retro swimwear with an ethnic vibe. A lot of the color inspiration came from the movie “The Croods”, I just loved how the movie gave an endless array of colors that inspired me.
HS: Where will the woman be rocking her Andrea Iyamah suit this summer?
AI: Vacations, carnivals, anywhere fun! The best thing about the collection is the fact that most of the swim tops can be paired with pieces that create full outfits. I imagine any girl in an A.I swimwear feeling sexy in her skin as she struts the beach
HS: Favorite piece in the current collection?
AI: It’s usually hard for me to choose but I love the “Landi” hot pink two piece swimsuit the most! The sporty top and the cut-out bottoms are very me. I usually like the more conserved pieces more.
HS: How do you continuously keep the line refreshed and inspired?
AI: If it’s not edgy it’s not A.I! I try to move away from “normal” as much as possible. Swimwear doesn’t have to be boring and repetitive; it can and should be as creative as clothes, shoes or jewelry. It’s important that the brand maintains its ethic retro vibe while releasing new creativity every summer.
HS: Recent celebrity sighting’s in current collection OR a MUSE that you'd like to be seen in the current collection.
AI: Rihanna, Iggy Azalea, Hally Berry and Nazanin Mandi in some of our pieces would look bomb!
HS: What are some things readers can look forward too with the expansion of this brand in the states?
AI: We’re working on stocking in major online and physical stores in the U.S and also in the U.K. We’re also looking forward to hopefully seeing our pieces strut the runway of Mercedes Benz Swim Fashion week Miami
